A retail-size sample will be included in this year's Schwag bags, along with Zanfel's very helpful and informative product brochure. SPRING, 2009:

NEW THIS YEAR: for the first time ever in a 24-Hour mountain bike race, we'll be adding new SOLO TEAM racing divisions. Yes, you read that right: You can now race as a solo and as a member of a team. Here's how it works: Any 3 solo riders can make up a Solo Team. Ride the race as Solos, and then add together the total number of laps of your 3 riders at the end. All riders just enter in the SOLO division (no separate advance "team" registration necessary) and declare your Solo Team name and riders on site at race check-in, prior to 10:00AM on Saturday of race weekend. We will have 3-person Solo Team categories in Men's, Women's, and Mixed divisions (any combination of Men/Women in the Mixed division). All Solo riders who declare themselves on a Solo Team will also remain eligible for their own Solo Division awards categories.

All other team divisions and entry fees remain the same as last year.

PROMOTERS ANNOUNCE NEW EVENT PARTNERSHIP

New Windsor, MD (November 1, 2008) – STOP, SWAP AND SAVE, the mid-Atlantic's largest indoor bicycle swap and consumer expo series, is joining forces with the 24 HOURS OF ALLAMUCHY, one of the of the East Coast's longest-running endurance mountain bike races.

Both events, which started in the 1990's as local grassroots gatherings, have grown to become regional favorites on the cycling calendar. Between them, they attract thousands of attendees from up and down the East Coast.

The 2009 STOP, SWAP AND SAVE series will run from February to March with events in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The 16th running of the 24 HOURS OF ALLAMUCHY is scheduled for Aug 21-22-23, 2009, in Stanhope, N.J.

"I've always been a huge fan of Allamuchy," said Bruce Culver, the SWAP's founder and co-promoter, who has competed in the race almost every year since it began. "When the opportunity for this marketing arrangement presented itself, I jumped at it."

"The SWAP offers a great way for cyclists to find practically anything they need in terms of equipment or products," said Dan Brannen, co-promoter of the 24 HOURS OF ALLAMUCHY. "It's also a terrific place to gather with like-minded cyclists. We're excited to join up with the SWAP."

"The people who attend our events are the common theme between the SWAP and ALLAMUCHY," said race co-promoter Paul Hess. "There's an enthusiasm for cycling and a knowledge about the sport that is infectious."

For complete information on both events visit www.StopSwapAndSave.com or www.24HoursOfAllamuchy.com.

2007 EVENT REPORT

The 14th Annual 24 Hours of Allamuchy is history. As for the weather, all we can say is, plan for furture years with our new motto in mind: "You don't want to miss the first year without rain!" The weather did play the major role in determining number of laps completed, making a challenging course much slower than it would otherwise have been.

This year we had almost 50 riders more than last year, and most of them were in the solo division. We had a total of 153 solo riders, with a huge increase in women solos.

Highlights of the weekend:

*Guillaume Nelessen of the van Dessel racing team, riding a Single Speed bike in his first mountain bike race of any distance, wins the Men's solo with 10 laps by just staying out there in the mud longer (and getting dirtier) than everyone else.

*Melissa Kern of Team CycleWorks avenges her narrow Women's Solo loss of last year by taking her first Solo title.

*Deb Beattie in her first 24-Hour race wins the Women's 40+ division AND the SURLY bike frame.

*Best Team Name: solo rider Elizabeth Schwartz calls herself "Solo Bear Bait."

*The Specialized Bicycle Components Guy/Gal team of Wiley Mosley and Laura Hanlon wins the 2-person Mixed division and provides all riders with water bottles.

*Princeton Tec makes a big splash with their state-of-the art Switchback 1-2-3 lighting system, offering rentals at Allamuchy for the first time, with a "standing room only" response from the riders.

*Team Midnight Special racks up 18 laps to win the 4-man overall title.

*Team AARP provides our first-ever team in the 50+ 4-man age division.

*Team Bulldog-Campmor makes history, becoming the first-ever all-women team to score (3rd place) in the 5-person division.

*The Corporate division race goes down to the wire with team Bigfoot's Rolex edging team Cyclopaths for the win.

*Our event photographer extraordinaire, Jim Reilly (Imageextreme.com) has a close encounter with an Extra-Large furry forest dweller and captures it on film.

*The combined efforts of the NJ Region Bike Patrol (formerly known as the NJ Ski Patrol), JORBA, and the National Mountain Bike Patrol keep our course and our riders safer than ever before.
